We’re excited to find other postdocs on campus who are interested in getting involved in our community. There are a number of ways to participate in UAPA, so hopefully there is something that appeals to you.
BE INFORMED
Sign up for the UA postdocs listserv is a great place to start. This listserv is used to distribute information about events on campus, in the community, and beyond that may be of interest to postdocs. These include professional development activities, postdoc coffee break, happy hours, workshops, fellowship opportunities, etc. To subscribe, send an e-mail to [email protected] with subscribe [email protected] Firstname Lastname as the subject line of the email.
ATTEND
We have various UAPA sponsored events on and off campus. By being a postdoc at UA, you are already automatically a member! These activities are a great way to meet fellow postdocs and chat with executive board members about all things UAPA.
SERVE
All postdocs can serve on committees and help organize activities and events that they are excited about. We are always looking for creative minds to help plan professional development events, social outings, election and advocacy endeavors. If this is something you’re interested in, please reach out via e-mail to [email protected] or fill out the contact form below.
In addition to serving on committees, postdocs can also serve as committee chairs and can be elected as executive board members. Committee chairs serve as liaisons between their committee and the executive board and work to ensure the mission of that committee is accomplished. Executive board members serve a one-year term and help oversee the administration of the UAPA. This includes supervising the coordination of UAPA activities, regular attendance at UAPA events and board meetings, and representing UA postdocs in the UA community especially, but not limited to, policies affecting postdocs. New executive board members are elected each December.
VOTE
Each December, we will hold elections for executive board members. All UA postdocs are invited to vote for new executive board members via a secure online polling system sent out through the listserv.
