Supporting Our Community: Addressing Sexual Assault at the University of Arizona
At the March 2026 Senate Meeting, Lisa Kiser, Associate Clinical Professor in the Nurse Midwife Program, raised concerns about the prevalence of sexual assault on the University of Arizona campus. She emphasized the critical role that faculty, staff, and university employees play in supporting and responding to individuals affected by sexual assault.

During the discussion, concerns were also raised regarding gaps in support for students from faculty and supervisors. A lack of adequate support may unintentionally contribute to underreporting and may be associated with negative academic outcomes, including students withdrawing from their courses.

The University of Arizona provides training and resources for students and employees impacted by sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. These resources are designed to help members of the university community recognize these situations, understand available options, and know how and where to seek help or report an incident.
